I bought a power lift recliner a little over 2 years ago for about a grant for my disabled son. I didn't really like it, but my son did. I could feel that it was not really well built when I sat in and reclined it. About a year passed, the back support started to delay a few seconds and then clicked after the "Back" button was pressed. Fast forward to 9/15/17, while my son was both reclining and feet-lifting it, I believed one end of the motor that controlled the movement of the back piece of the chair snapped very cleanly right where it was welded to the seat supporting bar. I'm not a welder, but I can tell from observing the welded area that whoever did the welding job did it so poorly, and I'm surprised that it passed their production QA - if they had a QA department. Then, this loose motor was somehow causing the other motor's plunger to snap.
Love, love, love Aaron! Followed him from the Emeryville location to Union City. He has this uncanny ability to take your input and come up with amazing suggestions!! And there is so much more to La-Z-Boy than comfortable chairs......their selection of coffee and end tables will pleasantly surprise you. Would give La-Z-Boy 6 stars if I could.
I ordered 3 end tables, and 1 lamp on 7-14-17 and promised these items in 3 wks. Here it is 8-21 and still waiting (5wks & still counting). If this isn't bad enough, they have already charged my credit card account! I had called them two weeks ago enquiring about the furniture, no answer, no follow up from them. Poor customer service. Prior to this 'purchase, I had purchased over $6,000 in furniture from them and no problem. Very disappointed.
I will NEVER buy any La-Z-boy brand EVER AGAIN!
The chair is still under warranty. Mechanical parts have a lifetime warranty - electrical parts, 3 years. The ripoff part is: La-Z-boy will charge me $59.95 for their technician to stop by and check the chair. If he/she can repair it on the spot, I will be charged $99.95 per hour. With that kind of damage, I believe it will take him/her more than an hour. If it cannot be repaired and parts need to be ordered, La-Z-boy will charge me the tech visit fee of $59.95 again on top of the $99.95 per hour labor fee. I mean what kind of warranty is that? I was expecting like a small fixed fee of less than $200 or so.
We were told 6 weeks for our chair -- almost 10 weeks later we get a call. They wont even give you a time frame until the day before -- ok -- that is one vacation day blown. Then we find parts under the chair -- they are less than a week old. Guess what -- another vacation day shot to hell to wait for a tech. This is proving to be completely unsatisfactory -- and BTW -- when I left a message for a manager -- they never returned our call. They get one star -- only because negative stars are not on the list!
